In today’s modern, competitive world, proficiency in the English language has become a key tool for accessing the fruits of development. With changing times, English has become both a necessity and an attraction alongside the mother tongue.

Against this backdrop, with the aim of bringing English-medium education to students in backward areas, 164 Model Schools were established in Andhra Pradesh.

Among these Model Schools, the one that has earned a name for itself, remained on the path of progress, demonstrated talent and skill, and achieved excellent results is the Venkatagiri Model School — the AP Model School. Established in the 2013 academic year when it fell under Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district, this Model School has now stepped into the 2026-27 academic year.

This Model School has become a sensation in achieving excellent results, standing as a byword for discipline, and providing quality education with dedication and state-of-the-art facilities that surpass even corporate schools. It continues to create a wave of progress.

With the goal of laying a foundation for a bright future for every student studying here, the school is run in a well-organized manner, which is why parents show great interest in enrolling their children here, submitting applications in large numbers.

Quality Education
Quality education is imparted here, surpassing even private and corporate schools. Teaching is carried out by experienced faculty holding M.A., M.Ed., B.Ed., Ph.D., and M.Phil. qualifications. PGTs, TGTs, and those qualified in NET and SLET are working in the teaching field.

With well-built buildings, basic infrastructure, and state-of-the-art amenities, value-based education is imparted in English medium from Class 6 through Intermediate.

Modern Education
To provide education using modern methods, students here are given tablets, helping achieve good results. Similarly, IFP panels have been installed in every classroom, delivering modern education with technological standards. To help students develop a connection with and love for a language they often find difficult, the school first conducts a bridge course and spoken English classes, working to ensure every student can speak English with ease.

Seat Allocation
Education is provided free of cost, with no fees collected of any kind. Before the start of every academic year, an entrance eligibility test is conducted for Class 6, and seats are allotted according to reservations to those who qualify. From Classes 6 to 10, each class has two sections — Section A and Section B — with 50 students each, totaling 100 seats. In Intermediate, however, there are 40 seats each for MPC, BiPC, MEC, and CEC. Applications for these seats must be submitted online. In the first week after the school reopens following summer vacation, vacant seats from Class 7 to Class 9 are filled based on eligibility. To achieve excellent results, special attention is given to every student studying here, along with special coaching provided for securing seats through EAMCET, Triple IIT, and medical entrance exams. The mental inclinations and thought patterns of students are observed, and educational standards are tailored accordingly to guide them toward a bright future.

State-of-the-Art Laboratories
To provide modern education, state-of-the-art laboratories have been set up here, including separate Physics, Chemistry, Biology, STEM, PAL, and NTSE laboratories. With modern facilities enabling extensive experimentation, experienced PGTs in the respective subjects provide training to bring out the skills present in students, molding them to be eligible for district and state-level research awards.

Vocational Courses
For candidates wishing to learn new skills, vocational courses are like a boon. Training is provided in vocational courses related to engineering, banking, accountancy, nursing, medicine, architecture, pharmacy, law, and IT-ITES, as well as handicraft trades such as beautician work, stitching, knitting, tailoring, and cheffing. These are useful for those who want to gain skill-based employment quickly. Two specially trained trainers are available here to provide training in vocational courses. These courses are limited to Classes 6, 7, and 8 only.

Computer Course
Students from Classes 6, 7, and 8 studying here are given awareness and training in computers, with a dedicated computer teacher for this purpose. In the most basic long-term courses, students are taught fundamentals such as MS Office, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint from the outset, laying groundwork for computer software, information technology, computer applications, computer engineering, and computer science courses. A dedicated computer lab, along with the necessary systems, laptops, and tablets for students, is available for this purpose.

Library
All types of books needed by children are available here. Books required for competitive examinations are freshly procured from time to time and made available to the children. A dedicated librarian is available. Students need not spend thousands of rupees individually to buy books for competitive exams. Books from various publishers required for medical and engineering eligibility tests, and for NEET, JEE, IIT, and EAMCET coaching, are made available in the school library, along with the necessary training.

Bharat Scouts & Guides
To instill patriotism and discipline in boys and girls and mold them into social servants, boys are trained as Scouts and girls as Guides from Class 6 onward. Every year, at the start of the school year, 30 boys and 30 girls are selected from Class 6 based on enthusiasm, skill, and eligibility. They continue in this program until Class 8. They are provided free uniforms. Camps are also held every year. Specially trained teachers are available for Scouts & Guides.

NCC for Military Training
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) has been established here to instill in students qualities such as compassion, physical fitness, discipline, social dedication, sense of duty, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, selfless service, and patriotism.

Every year, 50 boys and girls studying in Class 8 are selected based on eligibility and given military training for two years, continuing through Class 9. Certificates are also provided to help with higher education and employment. A trained teacher works here for this purpose as well. On special occasions, NCC children are also taken on camps related to duties performed by the police.

Model School Transformed into a PM SHRI School
Through a transparent challenge method, this Model School has been selected to become a PM SHRI school. The main objective of the PM SHRI Model School is to qualitatively strengthen this school, transform it into an ideal school aligned with national policies, and mold students into productive, enthusiastic, and responsible citizens by providing quality education with basic infrastructure.

Special Features of the Model School
Rather than focusing only on the one or two students who bring in ranks, special care and effort is shown toward every student. Departing from rote-learning tendencies, special coaching is provided in meaningful education even to students who are lagging behind. Spacious classrooms have been built to ensure students face no difficulties in studying here comfortably — there are no cramped rooms anywhere. Benches and fans suitable for students have been installed. Through the windows of the classrooms, education is imparted in a pleasant environment that feels as cool as air conditioning.

Special classes, supervised study hours, and digital classes are conducted as needed, without placing any mental pressure on students.

Special coaching is also provided for the NMMS examination to help underprivileged children obtain scholarships. Training is given to help students win Inspire-MANAK awards and talent awards that come with excellent results.

Government Schemes
All schemes provided by the central and state governments for students apply to this Model School. The mid-day meal scheme is implemented here not only for Classes 6 to 10 but also for students studying Intermediate. A RO water plant has been installed for a clean drinking water facility. CC cameras have also been installed to take appropriate precautionary measures and ensure students do not engage in indiscipline.

Free textbooks, notebooks, kits, free uniforms, and other government gifts are provided to students of all classes right at the start of the academic year.

Hostel Facility Coming Soon
Hostel facilities will soon be provided for students studying here. Arrangements needed for hostel construction have progressed rapidly. Only a small amount of work remains.

Handwriting
It is said that if one’s handwriting changes, one’s fortune changes. At the start of every academic year, a freehand writing specialist is invited to conduct special training classes. With the intention of encouraging students, certificates are given to those who undergo the training, and prizes are presented by dignitaries to those who learn to write excellently.

Besides these, co-curricular activities are conducted. Energy Club, Maths Club, and Social Club are set up. Essay writing competitions, elocution competitions, drawing competitions, and quiz competitions are held to build a strong grasp of contemporary topics. In this competitive world, awareness programs are undertaken — featuring dignitaries and experts to inspire students — aimed at removing exam-time fear among children, helping them cope with mental stress, and guiding them toward achieving success with good results.

Spacious Playground
Apart from classrooms, laboratories, and the school building, there is a spacious 5-acre playground here for students to engage in all kinds of sports. Football, basketball, and badminton courts have been set up. A dedicated ground has been arranged for training in long jump, high jump, and running events. Equipment and tools needed for all types of sports are available.

With its transformation into a PM SHRI school, this playground will be developed further to the extent of being able to host district and state-level competitions. A Physical Director (PD) works here daily to train and engage children in sports.

Parent Meetings
Parent-teacher meetings are an important aspect of educational development. Parent-teacher meetings are an integral part of school life. They provide teachers with an ideal opportunity to discuss disciplinary strategies with parents. For this purpose, a parents’ meeting is held here once every three months.

These meetings are conducted to help understand how children are studying, their progress, the performance of children and teachers, what a child is learning at school, results, behavior, and socio-emotional progress, so as to correct shortcomings and pave the way for a bright future.

Steps are also taken to hold parents’ committee meetings regarding programs to be undertaken for the development of the school’s children.

For Knowledge and Entertainment
To nurture creativity in children by providing knowledge, awareness, and entertainment, programs are undertaken involving educational excursions and visits to industries, banks, research centers, and tourist spots.

Besides this, programs such as national festivals, celebrations of Indian culture, annual day functions, Maths Day, Science Day, Sports Day, and Children’s Day are all conducted like festivals, bringing excitement to the children. Programs such as Swachh Bharat, Swachh Paathshala, exercise, meditation, and yoga are also conducted.

To relieve students of mental stress and instill self-confidence and self-belief, counseling is arranged with renowned medical experts. Various disease screening tests and free medical camps are conducted with medical teams.
