Awareness Programme on Disaster Management
Awareness Programme on Disaster Management
An awareness programme on disaster management, protective measures, and relief operations to be undertaken during emergencies was held on Thursday at PM SHRI AP Model School in Venkatagiri, Tirupati district, organized by the AP Model School in association with the State Disaster Response Team.
About 45 members of the State Disaster Response Team from Venkatagiri took part in the programme. Commandant Shri K.R.C.H. Murthy, Assistant Commandant (DSP) Shri B. Anand Khanna, and Inspector Shri D. Venkateswara Rao participated in the event and created awareness among students on various topics.

Members of the State Disaster Response Team conducted mock drills and live demonstrations for the students, practically explaining how to respond when accidents occur, how to protect oneself during emergencies, how to provide first aid to victims, and how to carry out rescue operations.
The demonstrations explaining the precautions to be taken during fire accidents, earthquakes, floods, other natural calamities, or emergency situations greatly impressed the students. What made the programme especially appealing was that the training was not limited to theoretical understanding alone but was imparted through hands-on mock drills and demonstrations.
Around 600 students and 20 teachers of the school participated in the programme. The students learned several important lessons, including how to act bravely and alertly during emergencies, the importance of protective measures, and the need to work in coordination during disasters.
Besides building awareness about disaster management among students, the programme proved highly useful in inspiring them to be able to help themselves, their family members, and society during emergencies.
School Principal Dr. D. Tulasi Jyothi stated that through this programme, conducted as part of the holistic development of students at PM SHRI AP Model School, they were able to firmly instill in the students the message of “Alertness – Awareness – Protection.” The school Principal Dr. D. Tulasi Jyothi and the teachers expressed their gratitude to the officials and staff of the State Disaster Response Team for imparting valuable practical knowledge to the students.
